Caper Acres Park Redesign Updates!

Here at Melton Design Group, most of us are locals – born and raised in Chico, CA. So you can imagine our excitement when we were approached by the city to give our iconic park, Caper Acres, a face lift.

Our conceptual plans for Caper Acres Park are currently in review with the City of Chico. With the city, we have redesigned the park to maintain it’s character, but improve safety regarding equipment and the overall park.

A New Plan for Caper Acres, Chico, CA

Caper Acres has been a staple in the Chico community for many, many decades. When there was talk of it closing, the community fought back. We are so excited to be able to be a part of this project! With the help and input from the community and the city, we are redesigning Caper Acres Park.

New on the Boards!

What does every community desire…soccer fields! Thanks to the Prop 84 grant, Live Oak gets to live the soccer dream.  Starting with two fields, with complete build out at five fields, the soccer community can now improve their game by having high quality fields.  The idea is to plan for at least one synthetic field so they can play all year long.  The five fields will allow them to host tournaments and attract better players and teams to Live Oak. Once completed this park will improve youth sports in the Live Oak community and create a great place for families to come together and enjoy the play grounds, picnic areas and trail systems! Congratulations to Live Oak.

The Historic Sacramento Northern Railway Easement Gets New Life for Bikers and Walkers

The City of Live Oak community trail system is gaining two more segments.   This thriving electric train   that use to carry people through Live Oak, now its easement will once again be the highlight of moving people through the community.  A new bicycle and pedestrian trail system is connecting Pennington Street to Epperson Street.  Shade trees, benches, play areas, and decorative gateways are just some of the key elements that make this new trail system exciting.  Home owners can now open there back yards to the community to meet their neighbors as they walk by!  Greg Melton the Landscape Architect for the project had a great meeting with neighbors last week.
